============================================

Did something happen to you recently? All of a sudden, instead of having a shoe box with 50 to 100 photos in it, you found yourself with thousands of images on your computer and no way to deal with them. These photos now coming from your smart phone, your point and shoot camera, your tablet computer, your friends and maybe even a high quality DSLR. So how do you keep track of them all, select the good ones and make them look better?
If you’ve any where near Palo Alto California and have decided to use Adobe’s powerful Lightroom product to manage and improve your photos but need some help to get started, give me a call.

I'm an award winning photographer with great teaching skills who can show you how to use and get the biggest bang for your buck from LR. My inexpensive one-on-one lessons are tailored to your skill level, usage, and can be as shallow or in depth as you like. These are in person, 1 on 1, private sessions given at my place Palo Alto.  Although I provide printed tutorials to augment what I showed you in person session, this is not on line training or a series of things you download and do on your own. This also not an online webinar or a classroom full of people.  This is hands on sessions with you and your instructor which is always me, live and in person dealing with your needs, problems, issues and training.Personally, I use LR to manage all my images (over 65,000 of them). I also use LR for over 98% of my image editing needs, only going over to other tools such as Photoshop for specialized work such as erasing tourists and telephone wires or making composite images.

My rate is a flat $50 per hour of instruction. The $50/hr rate includes simultaneous private instruction for yourself and up to two other people of your choosing (no charge for extra people). Lessons can be arranged in sessions of 1 to 3 hours duration each (2 hr minimum for first lesson).

If, after the first hour you are not 100% satisfied we can stop there and there will be no charge

This railway complex (Est. 1905) is said to be the best-preserved, least altered, and most complete main yard complex remaining from the steam railroad era. Due to it's remote location off the main line, it owes its authenticity to having largely escaped the modernization that took place in most rail complexes during the transition from steam to diesel in the 1950's.

Driving between Needles CA (where CA meets AZ at the Colorado river east of Barstow) and Blanding UT (between Monument valley and Moab) we saw this off the side of the road. We were getting that pre-sunset golden Southwest light (around 5:30 in May) which turns the red rock on the buttes thjis amzaing rich red color. Had to walk a little ways across some scrub to a barb wire fence in order to shoot over it such that it did not clutter the shot, but was well wotth the effort.

[Copied from Yelp 12/1/2015]

I am a wildlife photographer living in East Africa, and photography is an integral part of my work. During my visit to the Bay Area, my goal was to improve my DSLR skills, particularly shooting in manual mode. I started taking lessons regularly with Dan a few months ago , and my skill level has improved by leaps and bounds. Dan is a great teacher, and he has the unique ability to explain the technical aspects of photography in ways that are understandable, and useable out in the field. My understanding of the relationship between ISO, shutter speed, and aperture has increased. Dan also has an in depth understanding of post processing using Lightroom, and I have learned a lot from him about this complicated program. He also has helped me with organizing my files, and folders. What I have learned from Dan is invaluable, and I feel confident that when I return to East Africa, my photography will be greatly improved.
