Ghost on ladder Spruce Tree House, Kiva, Mesa Verde NP, CO

Taken in a restored Kiva in the Spruce Tree House ruin in Mesa Verde National Park shows a ghost descending the ladder.

Kiva's were built by the Ancestoral Pueblo Indians (formerly called the Anasazi). Each family had their own kiva. Some Kiva's were used to live in and others were only for ceremonial pusposes. This Kiva is part of a cliff dwelling village. The people lived in the stone and adobe above ground buildings built into alcoves and used kiva's such as this for ceremonial purposes.
